The UIP prize for the Best European Short film was given to The Making of Parts by Daniel Elliot.

Also the Horizon Documentary Prize was given to the famous film When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts by Spike Lee.

The 63rd edition of Venice Festival was held from 30 August - 09 September 2006 and 17 films from 15 countries participated in its Corto Cortissimo, short film competition.
